Salah Issues Statement to Liverpool Dressing Room, Says Curtis Jones
Jones has disclosed that the Egyptian forward said sorry to the team in the wake of the fallout from his recent interview.
The Incident
Salah was left out from a key Champions League match subsequent to making accusations and claiming his relationship with manager had soured.
“He speaks for himself and he can say his own stuff,” Jones revealed. “He said sorry to the group and was like: ‘Should anyone feel slighted, I'm sorry.’”
The head coach has previously declined to disclose on whether he received a personal apology from the player.
Looking Ahead
He emphasized that the squad's reaction stayed normal. “He was his usual self, his demeanour was positive and everybody was exactly the same with him,” he continued.
Jones also suggested that a teammate fighting for a place is preferable. “I understand there are certain ways you can go about things,” he said. “Yet, should someone be happy to just be on the bench, then I think that’s concerning.”
Positive Results
Liverpool's form have remained strong in the matches since the interview fallout. The player is convinced the forward's comments were not designed to harm the team.
“When there’s been any sort of anger, the source has been from a place of caring,” he finished. “We’re past that now and we’re uniting strongly, playing well and starting to win games.”
