Ten individuals sentenced of online harassment against Brigitte Macron

A court in Paris has ruled against ten people for perpetrating the cyber-bullying of Brigitte Macron, the spouse of the President of France, Emmanuel Macron.
The those on trial faced charges of spreading false claims regarding her gender and sexuality, in addition to making malicious remarks about the couple's significant age difference.
The court issued conditional custodial sentences of as much as eight months to the defendants. The complete verdict has still to be made public.
A persistent unfounded claim alleging that Brigitte Macron is a transgender woman has existed since her husband's rise to the presidency in 2017.
This recent ruling in France comes as the Macrons initiating a libel case in the United States against political commentator Candace Owens, who has also voiced comparable unfounded claims about the first lady's identity.
Their legal filing contends that Owens brushed aside any factual proof that refuted her assertions opting to amplify the voices of notorious conspiracy peddlers.
Owens has often echoed these allegations on her podcast and social networks, and in March 2024 declared that she would bet her whole career on her conviction that Mrs. Macron is biologically male.
Brigitte Macron first met her current spouse when she worked as an educator at his secondary school.
The two tied the knot in 2007, when the future French president was 29 and she was approximately 54 years old.
